About the role
Build the organization that builds the product.
At Mynt, we’re on a mission to reshape how companies manage spending and payments. As a fast-growing fintech scale-up, our product and our people are at the core of everything we do. We’re now looking for a Director of Engineering to help us build our engineering organization as we scale, while maintaining strong pace, quality, and culture. You’ll start with what we have built to date and grow it to the next level, shaping it with all the experience, judgement, and people skills that you’ve built up throughout your career.
As Director of Engineering, you are responsible for designing and growing the engineering organization through our next growth journey from 40 to 100+ people. Structure, performance, culture, clarity, ways of working, supporting systems, and overall developer satisfaction are key elements you’ll work to balance to enable individuals and the entire tech team to perform at its very best. You’ll work closely with the CPO (product strategy and roadmap) and CTO (technical vision and architecture) to ensure engineering teams can deliver strong business outcomes with clarity, pace, and high satisfaction.
You’ll design and run hiring, onboarding, and performance review systems that are fair, consistent, and scalable. You’ll coach Team Leads and support Mentors to build strong leaders and maintain high-performing, motivated teams. You’ll also leverage data and insights to guide decisions, track developer productivity, and identify opportunities for improvement. By connecting developer satisfaction with business outcomes, you’ll help ensure teams are motivated, productive, and delivering strong business outcomes. Finally, you’ll shape team structures, ways of working, and culture to maintain psychological safety, accountability, and ownership.
What you bring to the table
You have solid experience in engineering and leadership, and you thrive in building teams and organizations that deliver both impact and developer satisfaction. You understand how to scale engineering organizations without sacrificing culture, quality, or pace, and you bring a data-driven mindset to continuously improve team performance.
You also bring:
7-10+ years of engineering experience, with 3-4+ years in leadership roles
Experience scaling engineering organizations (e.g., 30-50 → 80-150 people)
Experience of building the people side of the tech organization (hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, salary setting)
Close collaboration with product and technical leadership
Data-driven approach, including tracking developer productivity KPIs and using insights to improve outcomes
People-first leadership, connecting developer satisfaction with measurable business impact
Technical credibility and ability to understand how engineering work drives business results
Comfort with ambiguity and building new structures, processes, and ways of working
